Justin is originally from Kwazulu Natal, South Africa where he narrowly escaped a career in law to take up photography. Growing up in this lush, tropical setting, surrounded by nature, meant that he developed as an intensely visual person- inspired by the sights and colours of his environment.
He first entered the industry in Cape town in 2003 by assisting renowned local and international photographers. Over the years he honed his technical skills before taking the plunge to go at it alone. He has been working full time as a professional photographer since 2009 and has shot on assignment all over the world, from Cape Town to London, from Iceland to Sierra Leone and beyond.
Justin’s approach to photography is about being able to combine characters and their personalities with light and colour to create real moments. His strengths lie in lifestyle advertising, outdoors, fashion, and reportage. He shoots these with a realistic approach and has an amazing ability to capture people in their most natural way.
On set, his positive “can do” attitude is contagious - believing that creating a fun, relaxed and happy environment is the best way to get the most out of people. Justin thrives on being part of the creative process. Happy to be involved from the conceptualisation of a brief, pre production and execution, right through to completion. All the while working with a smile, good sense of humour and the highest degree of professionalism.
