Photography is a process that demands constant growth and change. It demands of me to be present and ready to recognize and capture a moment.
This is true for every shoot I do. Whether it is a commissioned food story, portrait or commercial product.
I have been in love with this medium for as long as I can remember. In 2005, I obtained a B-Tech Degree in Photography from the Tshwane University of Technology. I started my career as an assistant for South African industry greats such as David Prior and Gerda Genis and also spent some time exploring the European industry while assisting commercial photographers in Amsterdam.
I have now been a photographer in Cape Town for four years and as keen as ever about photography. I have discovered a love for food photography and worked on a cookbook project for Babylonstoren wine farm with food stylist Maranda Engelbrecht. It turned me into an enthusiastic foodie and herb gardener. I am also a bit of an old fashioned romantic and could never say no to capturing the occasional beautiful wedding.
The challenge doesn’t lie in finding the perfect subject matter, but in finding a unique way to portray something. I am on a journey with my camera where there is always a new opportunity for creating an extraordinary image. All I have to do is keep my eyes open.
